Hashboard Diagnostics & Micro-Soldering Fundamentals

Practical training in test fixture troubleshooting, domain voltage tracking, and surface-mount ASIC chip replacement.

Hashboard Diagnostics & Micro-Soldering Fundamentals

Program Overview

Master diagnostic test fixtures, LDO regulator testing, and hot-air reflow soldering to fix zero-hash boards instead of paying expensive overseas shipping.

Taught directly inside our Cowwarr workshop laboratory or delivered on-site at your facility in Victoria, this program emphasizes hands-on physical experience rather than slide-based lectures. Every participant works with calibrated diagnostic tools, real hashboards, and industrial-grade electrical switchgear.

Target Audience & Prerequisites

Who This Is For

Electronics technicians, repair shop operators, and self-maintainers managing 50+ mining units who want in-house component-level repair capabilities.

Prerequisites

Previous soldering experience (through-hole or basic SMD) and familiarization with multimeter diode testing.

Detailed Practical Outcomes

  • Operating official diagnostic test fixtures to isolate faulty ASIC chips in a domain chain.
  • Tracing clock (CLK), reset (RST), input (RX), and output (TX) serial transmission signals with an oscilloscope.
  • Using pre-heating plates and temperature-profiled hot air nozzles to desolder and resolder high-pin-count ASIC chips without warping the substrate.
  • Replacing buck converters, boost circuits, EEPROM chips, and thermal sensors.

Course Syllabus & Practical Stages

  • Day 1

Signal Tracing & Domain Power Architecture

Understanding series domain power steps (e.g. 14 domains @ 0.9V), clock trees, and using diagnostic test fixtures.

  • Day 2

    SMD Rework, Stenciling & Reballing

Applying solder paste with steel stencils, chip replacement techniques, heat sink thermal epoxy application, and QA soak testing.

Scope & Inclusions

What Is Included
  • 16 hours of 1-on-1 guided workbench time.
  • Printed diagnostic flowcharts and signal truth tables.
What Is Excluded
  • Commercial test fixture units for take-home use.
  • Guarantee of repairing personal broken boards brought from home (time permitting, 1 board evaluated).

Lab Safety & Capacity Constraints

Strict cap of 4 students per class. ESD wristbands and safety glasses required at all times.
